The University of Crete will host the Inauguration Ceremony of the UoC Center for Research and Studies in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Pedagogics
on Monday, May 8 2017, 17.30
at the CRS forecourt, Rethymno Campus.
To celebrate its Inauguration Day, CRS is hosting on the same day:
The International Workshop “Research Centers, Projects and Synergies, (Senate Hall, Rethymno Campus, 9.45-14.30)
An Open House Event (15.30-17.30 & 18.50-20.00)
CRS will be launched by the Governor of the Region of Crete, Mr Stavros Arnaoutakis and the University of Crete Rector, Professor Odysseas Ioannis L. Zoras, in the presence of the Archbishop of Crete Eirinaios, the CRS Director Professor Maria Kousi, the Mayor of Rethymno Mr. Yorgis Marinakis, the UoC Deputy Rector, Associate Professor Konstantinos Spanoudakis and the Deputy Director of CRS, Professor Nikos Papadakis.
Notable scientists from both Greece and abroad will honour with their presence the ceremonial events. Key-note speakers include Professor Andy Green (Director of the ESRC-funded Research Centre “LLAKES”, University College London-Institute of Education, also member of the British Academy of Social Sciences), Dr Loukas Zahilas (Head of the Department for Vocational Education and Training [VET] Systems and Institutions, CEDEFOP), Dr Panos Liverakos, (Senior Expert at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Hub for Civil Service), Professor Michalis Damanakis, former Deputy Rector of the University of Crete, and the Regional Vice-Governor for European and International Affairs, Mr Yorgos Alexakis.
The UoC Center for Research and Studies in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Pedagogics is an interdisciplinary research unit, supervised by the Senate, aiming to promote research in the Humanities, the Social Sciences and Pedagogics and to carry out research projects for third parties.
CRS includes: Research Laboratories, Research Programmes of either groups or individual researchers, as well as Postgraduate Studies Programmes related to the Humanities and Social and Education Sciences.
